🤖 Expert Agent Marketplace
Free-at-lance

Source: Wyatt Lonergan at VanEck Ventures
The Problem: In Chinese culture, 2026 is officially the “Year of the Fire Horse” (which sounds super badass btw). Meanwhile, in Silicon Valley culture, 2026 is clearly the year of the AI agent. AI agents are on track to consume 60%+ of software economics by the end of the decade. But there's a catch: generic agents are a bit like a well-trained dog…brilliant at following instructions, but are terrible at knowing what to do. That’s where expert freelancers come in. Freelancers like lawyers or financial analysts have incredible domain knowledge, but are limited by their bandwidth. So why not take their expertise, program it into agents, then allow businesses to hire and use these agents, like Upwork for the AI age? Here's what we're thinking.
The Solution:
💡 The Idea: A marketplace where domain experts deploy their knowledge as monetizable AI agents that businesses and other agents can hire on demand.
🛠️ Product:
Sign up as a creator, define your expertise domain (legal, financial modeling, creative production), and the platform helps you configure and deploy a personalized agent trained to work the way you do - available for hire per task or by subscription.
Businesses browse the marketplace, hire specialist agents instantly, and get expert-quality output without the overhead of full-time hires - with reputation scores built from every completed job.
Agents can hire other agents: a research agent can automatically subcontract to a legal agent for compliance review, spawning entire autonomous workflows without a human in the loop.

💼 Business Model: 15-20% marketplace take rate on agent-completed transactions.
⭐ End Goal: Acquired by Upwork, Fiverr, Salesforce, or Workday as they race to own agent infrastructure. 10-20x revenue multiple.

📊 Using the Four Fits Framework to Build a +$100M Business

The Context: Brian Balfour's Four Fits Framework argues that most startups fail to scale not because of bad execution, but because their product, market, channel, and business model are misaligned. Here's how to stress-test your business before that happens.
Step-by-step:
Product-Market Fit - Make sure you’re solving a real, recurring problem for a specific market. Your market also sets your price point, which determines everything downstream. You can't be a consumer product with enterprise pricing.
Product-Channel Fit - Your product needs to be built for a channel, not the other way around. TikTok built for Facebook Ads. HubSpot built for Google SEO. Pick your channel first, then shape the product around it.
Channel-Model Fit - Your revenue model has to afford your channel. Freemium at $10/month can't sustain paid acquisition. Map your ARPU against realistic CAC and make sure the math closes before you scale.
Model-Market Fit - Your pricing has to match how your market buys. Per-seat pricing in a usage-based market, or monthly billing in an annual-contract market, will kill conversion no matter how good the product is.
