🏥 AI Agent for Discharged Patients
Check Out x Check In
The Problem: Earlier this month I spent an incredibly fun week in hospital getting my appendix out. And by "incredibly fun" I mean lying in a bed watching my Netflix queue finally clear itself. But the moment you're discharged from the hospital, you're basically on your own - no follow-up call, no check-in, no idea if you're recovering or quietly falling apart at home. Turns out this is a $26 billion problem. 1 in 5 hospital patients are readmitted within 30 days of leaving the hospital, and Medicare has been fining hospitals for it since 2012. The fix is obvious: just call patients after they leave. The average hospital's solution? An overworked nurse with 200 names on a list and zero spare hours trying to make these calls. So why not use AI to solve this? Here's what we're thinking.
The Solution:
💡 The Idea: An AI voice agent that automatically calls patients after discharge, runs a structured clinical check-in, and flags anyone who needs to be reseen
🛠️ Product:
When a patient is discharged they're automatically enrolled in a follow-up sequence - the AI calls them at day 1, day 3, and day 7, asking structured questions tailored to their specific procedure. A knee replacement patient gets asked different questions than a cardiac patient.
Red flags trigger instant escalation - a patient mentioning chest tightness, scoring pain at an 8, or saying they've stopped their medication gets flagged for an immediate human callback. Everyone else gets a reassuring check-in logged to their record with zero staff time spent.
Every call syncs automatically to the hospital's software - giving clinical teams a complete post-discharge picture they've never had before, and giving administrators the readmission reduction data they need to satisfy CMS requirements and dodge financial penalties.

💼 Business Model: $2-5 per patient contact for clinics, $10-50k/mo enterprise for hospital systems.
⭐ End Goal: Acquired by Epic, Oracle Health, Teladoc, or a major health system owning the post-acute care layer. Target exit 8-12x ARR.

📲 How to Use Micro-Influencers to Acquire Users

The Context: Micro-influencers (10k-100k followers) are one of the best ways to get early traction for your product. Their audiences actually trust them, they're affordable, and they convert better than big accounts. Here's how to find them and get them to share your product.
Step-by-step:
Search your niche on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube using product-specific hashtags. Filter by engagement rate above 3% - not follower count. Tools like Modash or Heepsy help, but a manual search works fine early on. Aim for a hit list of 20-30 names before you send a single message.
Follow them, comment on 2-3 posts over a week, then reach out using a message like this. Keep it under 5 sentences, name a specific post you liked, and lead with what's in it for them - free product, affiliate deal, or a flat fee under $200. Tell them the outcome you want and let them make it their own - audiences can smell a forced read instantly.
Give each creator a unique discount code or UTM link, measure conversions not views, and lock in your winners with a recurring deal before a competitor does.

📹 Google just launched Veo 3.1 Lite, its most cost-effective video generation model yet.
💰 OpenAI may be dramatically under-reporting its ad revenue - analysts suggest the "$100M annualized" announcement is a sandbagged number designed to manage expectations before a much bigger reveal. Clever.
